Cartagena de Indias

Torre del Reloj

The main focal point in the city, the little clock tower on top of "la Boca del Puente". A very famous "rendezvous" spot for cartageneros. Its time piece dates from the earlier 1800's and still works perfectly.

San Pedro Claver's Church

View of the old yellow dome from the water. It dominates the landscape, and was used as a beacon for ships at sea, since it can be seen from a couple of miles offshore.

Old City Skyline

What a ship's captain must have seen approaching Cartagena on the late 1600's. To the left: The majestic San Pedro Claver's dome with its two watch towers and on the distance, the beautiful tall, red Cathedral spire.

La Boca del Puente

Spectacular view of the main gateway to the old walled city. Called "la boca del puente" which in English means: "the gate to the bridge", since there used to be a drawbridge at the foot of this entrance, connecting Cartagena to the nearby islet of Getsemani. The red tower on the right is the beautiful Cathedral spire, the old city's tallest building
